OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The gantry, equipped with a Liebherr electro-hydraulic excavator controlled by an operator, allows the handling of logs coming from the X-ray scanning unit to store them, according to their classification, in the log yard, the classification criteria being defined according to the characteristics of the log and its final use.

CONVEYANCE TO THE SAWING UNIT

The second mission of the grapple excavator gantry is to take the logs stored in the yard to load them into the autonomous trolley, which then conveys and unloads them to the sawing unit according to an automated cycle.
Unique characteristics of the gantry: Control station located 14 meters from the ground, maximum speed of movement 200 meters/minute, weight of the device approximately 200 tonnes.
The autonomous trolley: Movement speed 150 meters/minute, capacity approximately 60 tonnes of logs.

This equipment was delivered, installed and put into service in March and April 2017, in climatic conditions that were complicated to say the least.

Operation of the park began in June and was 100% operational in September.
