Why the Periodic General Audit (V.G.P.)?
The Periodic General Inspection (V.G.P.) is an inspection of one or more lifting equipment in connection with a general prevention obligation carried out by a qualified person.
The main objective of these checks is to “detect in a timely manner any deterioration likely to create dangers” and to maintain the devices “in compliance with the technical design and construction rules applicable when they are put into service in the 'establishment".
Content of the Periodic General Audit (V.G.P.)
State of conservation of a lifting device. Examination which aims to verify the good state of conservation of the lifting device and its supports, and to detect any deterioration likely to be the cause of dangerous situations affecting in particular the essential elements of the equipment.
Operational tests of a lifting device. Tests to ensure the effectiveness of the equipment.
Production method
V.G.P operations are entirely separate from maintenance visits; they are carried out following the latter:
Without dismantling other than those provided for in the decree of March 1, 2004,
Without intervention which would force the verifier to modify the control or power circuits, to disrupt the protections or the protection devices,
Use of permanent or specially designed access, appropriate and in good condition.
