ADC DELIVERS A GANTRY CRANE FOR WOOD LOG HANDLING

 

In May 2017, the company PIVETEAU BOIS, based in Sainte Florence (85), entrusted ADC with the design and fabrication of a shovel gantry crane and an autonomous trolley for their new log storage yard.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The gantry, equipped with an operator-driven Liebherr electrohydraulic shovel, enables logs from the X-ray scanning unit to be gripped for storage, according to their classification, in the log yard, classification criteria being defined according to the characteristics of the log and its end use.

Conveying to the sawing unit
The second mission of the gantry crane is to take the logs stored in the park to load them in the autonomous trolley, the latter conveying them and then unloading to the sawing unit according to an automated cycle.

Singular characteristics of the gantry: Cockpit located at 14 meters from the ground, maximum speed of displacement 200 meters / minute, weight of the aircraft about 200 tons.

The autonomous truck: Travel speed 150 meters / minute, capacity about 60 tons of logs.

 

This equipment was delivered, installed and put into service in March and April, under difficult climatic conditions. The commissioning of the park will begin in June and will be fully operational in September.
